"Assessment of Farmers’ Knowledge, Attitude and Practices on Milk-Borne Zoonosis in District Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu & Kashmir" (Preprint)

Background: Milk-borne zoonotic diseases can be acquired by the consumption of nonpasteurized and infected dairy products. Zoonotic infections present a serious public health concern that is responsible for approximately 2.7 billion deaths annually worldwide. However, little known about attitudes knowledge farmers regarding milk-borne zoonosis. Objective: This study was performed with an aim to assess knowledge, attitude, practices (KAP) Methods: cross-sectional KAP conducted in District Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu Kashmir, from September 1 October 30, 2019. A pretested structured questionnaire used collect information respondents different aspects All small farms (n=56) more than 5 animals Muzaffarabad were included this study. Data collected (n=100), inclusion criterion having experience 6 months. Results: The findings show almost 86% unable name any disease. About 45.5% unaware fact milk potential source disease transmission. None had idea pasteurization method, 50% them no habit checking quality. 81% preferred use boiled milk. Almost 28% high-level education able at least one majority (99%) did not receive formal training diseases. Conclusions: According study, overall zoonosis adequate. Despite positive handling found poor. Awareness important their transmission should created, one-health approach deal adopted.
